Sarah’s practice encompasses a diverse range of disputes work, with a focus on commercial disputes and international arbitration. She has advised and acted for multinational corporations, directors and shareholders, and high-net-worth individuals. She has appeared at all levels of the Supreme Court of Singapore and before leading arbitral institutions.
- Advising and acting for a prominent real estate group in a dispute over its purchase of a commercial property valued at S$260 million, in which the seller is challenging the sale on various grounds including duress and undue influence;
- Advised and acted for a renowned charity in an ICC arbitration against a former staff member for breaches of confidence, and successfully resisted applications by the former staff member to stay the arbitration proceedings and for the confidentiality of the arbitration proceedings to be lifted;
- Advised and acted for a Chinese industrial refrigeration company in an SIAC arbitration brought against its supplier in a dispute over whether the components supplied were developed according to contractual specifications;
- Successfully obtained a world-wide freezing (Mareva) injunction for the value of US$20 million (covering assets spanning Singapore, the US, Canada and Indonesia) in connection with a high-net-worth family dispute;
- Acted for and advised the Liquidators of SC Aetas Holdings Pte Ltd. The Company raised funds to build a new building in Bideford Road and subsequently ran into financial difficulties;
- Acted for the Liquidators of the Envy Companies in successfully defending an appeal by an investor seeking to retain fictitious profits paid from one of the largest Ponzi schemes in Singapore;
- Advised and acted for a hotelier, in defending a claim brought by a building and construction company, for the alleged repudiatory breach of a contract for the refurbishment of several hotel rooms;
- Acted for Multi-Chem Limited, a listed company, in respect of investigations into red flags raised by auditors and taken up by SGX; and
- Successfully acted for a landlord in obtaining damages and indemnity costs against its tenant for failure to pay rent.
