In Lau Lee Sheng and others v. Envy Asset Management Pte Ltd (in liquidation) and others and another appeal [2026] SGCA 28 (“Lau Lee Sheng”), the Court of Appeal largely upheld the High Court’s decision that the Liquidators of the Envy Companies were entitled to claw back more than SGD 32 million in commissions and profit-sharing payments from four of the Envy Companies’ former employees.

Recent global tensions have accelerated countries’ use of sanctions as a geopolitical tool. These sanctions bring with them punishing penalties for those who transact in breach of them, including potential criminal liability and substantial financial penalties. Their growing use has also introduced new legal and practical challenges for corporates and financial institutions, especially regarding contractual performance in cross-border transactions.

On 19 November 2025, the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading (“SGX”) first introduced the new concept of Global Listing Board that SGX and the Nasdaq Stock Market (“Nasdaq”) will establish, to bridge the U.S. and Singapore capital markets.

On 28 May 2026, the National Environment Agency (“NEA”) announced a new suite of regulatory measures aimed at further reducing greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions from refrigeration and air-conditioning (“RAC”) equipment. Expanding on the hydrofluorocarbon (“HFC”) phase-down framework initiated in 2022, the upcoming regulations impose Global Warming Potential (“GWP”) limits on new commercial refrigeration systems and vehicle air-conditioning, alongside a mandatory registration and disposal framework for companies dismantling RAC equipment.

The Asia Pacific Loan Market Association recently launched its SME Practice Note on Sustainability-linked Loan Principles to provide guidance to small and medium enterprises on the application of the SLLP in a practical, simplified, and scalable way that maintains its integrity while considering the realities of smaller businesses.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”) are a family of nearly 15,000 synthetic chemicals used in everyday products since the 1940s, such as non-stick cookware, food packaging, and waterproof/stain resistant fabrics, personal care products, and firefighting foam.

On 16 April 2026, the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority published an article titled “Commencement of Key Changes under the Corporate and Accounting Laws (Amendment) Act 2025” which sets out the key amendments which would be brought about by the first tranche of provisions under the Corporate and Accounting Laws (Amendment) Act 2025 (“Amendment Act”) coming into operation on 6 May 2026.
