Perry Yuen’s area of practice covers corporate finance, namely, mergers and acquisitions (both public and private companies, and in Singapore and the region) and equity capital markets, privatisations, corporate restructurings and rescues, and advising on securities regulation.

Through the course of his work, Perry has dealt with Singapore regulators extensively, and he is particularly adept at resolving legally and commercially challenging and complex transactions.

Matter Experience


Private Equity, Multi-Jurisdiction
  • Acted for CDH Fund V, L.P., a PRC based private equity fund, with the acquisition of a majority shareholding interest in Aver Asia Corporation Pte Ltd (with businesses in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Myanmar and Vietnam) from the founding shareholders;
  • Acted for CDH Fund V, L.P. and the founding shareholders in the subsequent sale of the entire shareholding interest in Aver Asia Corporation Pte Ltd to Sumitomo Corporation; and
  • Acted for the founding shareholders in the sale of Pharmaforte Sdn Bhd and Pharmaforte Pte Ltd to Advantage Partners, a Japanese based private equity fund, and where the founding shareholders rolled over a portion of their shareholdings into the acquisition vehicle.
Public Listed Companies
  • Advised a consortium in its acquisition of a majority shareholding interest in Singapore Medical Group Ltd, a Singapore healthcare company listed on the SGX-ST, by way of a voluntary conditional offer;
  • Acted for the offeror in its acquisition of a majority shareholding interest in Singexpress Land Ltd, a company listed on the SGX-ST, by way of a mandatory unconditional cash offer; and
  • Privatised companies which were listed on the SGX-ST.
Multi Jurisdiction, Public Listed Company Transactions
  • Advised and acted as Singapore counsel to PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara on its acquisition of 44.3% of the shareholding interest in Macmahon Holdings Limited, a corporation listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, through the injection of assets valued at approximately US$150 million;
  • Advised and acted as Singapore counsel to PT Borneo Lumbung Energi & Metal Tbk with respect to their US$1 billion acquisition of a controlling stake in a company listed on the London Stock Exchange and subsequently on the separation of the Bakrie Group from Asia Resources Minerals PLC (formerly Bumi PLC); and
  • Advised and acted as lead counsel to Bilfinger SE, a German conglomerate, on the sale of its businesses in Asia (namely, China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam) to Archetype Construction Holding Limited.
